About Seth Blee, PT, DPT, CFMT, CSCS
Seth graduated from Boston College's pre-medical program with a BS in philosophy. He then went on to physical therapy school and graduated with honors from Columbia University in New York with a Master of Science degree in physical therapy in 1998. Since graduating, Seth has worked with several different patient populations, but has focused the majority of his time in orthopedics and sports. He completed his transitional Doctorate in Physical Therapy degree in 2009 from Arizona Health Science’s AT Still University. Seth has completed extensive continuing education coursework and training and has received the Functional Orthopedic Certification from the Institute of Physical Art in 2005, as well as their Certification in Functional Manual Therapy in 2006.
In addition to his clinical hours and his teaching and residency hours, Seth has also been a member of the medical staff of the Washington Nationals as their Team Physical Therapist since 2016. He also became the Team Physical Therapist for the Washington Spirit of the National Women's Soccer League in 2020. Seth has been seen on ESPN (Project 11) and on 60 Minutes for his work with the Washington Commanders' quarterback and Comeback Player of the Year, Alex Smith.
Seth is certified in blood flow restriction therapy, trigger point dry needling, and Sportsmetrics for injury prevention. He is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, which he integrates into his treatment of athletes of all ages. He has lectured to medical groups, physical therapy schools, professional sports organizations, and at multiple sports medicine conferences on topics in orthopedics, joint mobilizations, stabilization training, and PNF.
Seth has been teaching continuing education courses to physical therapists with the IPA since 2006 and is a primary faculty member for Corefirst Strategies, PNF, and the Kinetic Shoulder Complex courses as well as a course that he created for treating high level athletes entitled Strategies for Optimizing Performance. He is the Senior Director for Inova Physical Therapy Centers and treats patients out of the Fairfax/Sports Medicine locations.
A native of West Islip, NY, Seth currently resides in Centreville, VA, with his wife and his two children. In his spare time he enjoys coaching youth sports (baseball, wrestling), exercising, and snowboarding.
