A new way to get care online

Inova Primary Care is now offering a fast and easy way to communicate with your provider online. E-Visits are a secure way to connect with your provider, for certain non-emergency conditions, to discuss your health issues and receive an online diagnosis and treatment plan in the same or next business day.

Conditions we can treat with E-Visits:

  • Cough
  • Upper Respiratory Infection
  • Other Single Medical Problem - To be used for quick, non-urgent medical questions or concerns that can be addressed without a visit to a clinic or office.

How It Works:

You may access E-Visits through your MyChart account. You will be asked a series of pre-set questions in order to provide specific information about your condition. Your answers will then be reviewed by a provider. An E-Visit is not a video visit; therefore there is no virtual visual connection with the patient and provider.

For E-Visits received before 2 p.m., you can expect a response before close of business. For E-Visits received after 2 p.m., you can expect a response by the next business day.

E-Visits should only be used for non-urgent and non-emergent conditions.

Begin Your E-Visit Today

  1. Login into your MyChart account.
  2. From the home screen, click Visits and select ‘Non-video Inova E-Visit.’
  3. Accept the terms and conditions for an E-Visit.
  4. Complete the initial patient verification questions, including demographics, allergies, current medications, reason for visit.
  5. Next, answer the pre-set questionnaire to provide details about your current condition. This may take 10-15 minutes to complete.
  6. Review your questionnaire before submitting and confirming your E-Visit.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) About E-Visits

What can I expect during an E-Visit?

Depending on the steps presented and questions asked about your symptoms, it can take 10-20 minutes to complete your E-Visit request. You may be asked for your insurance details or medication lists. Please be prepared to fill in this information, as you cannot save your progress and finish later.

Who can use E-Visit?

Currently E-visits are only available to established patients with Inova Primary Care.

How much does an E-Visit cost?

E-Visits are billable to your insurance. Please contact your insurance provider for more information regarding specific E-Visit coverage.

Who reviews my E-Visit questionnaire and creates my treatment plan?

Your E-Visit questionnaire will be reviewed by your provider. If your provider is out of the office, another provider in the same office will respond.

What happens if I can’t receive treatment through an E-Visit?

If your medical problem requires additional evaluation and/or a physical exam, your healthcare team will reach out to you to convert your E-Visit to a video or in-office visit.

Will I be charged if I can’t complete care through an E-Visit?

No, if your E-Visit is converted to a video or in-office visit, you will only be charged for the final visit type.
