Dr. Jean Donet is a specialty care physician board certified in gastroenterology and internal medicine at Inova Health System. He joined Inova in 2023 and has been practicing since 2012.
Dr. Donet serves as the Clinical Director of the Inova GI Inflammatory Bowel Diseases Section (Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis). He is an Assistant Professor of Medical Education at the University of Virginia Inova Fairfax Medical Campus. Dr. Donet performs a comprehensive range of endoscopic procedures including upper endoscopy, screening and diagnostic colonoscopy, dye-chromoendoscopy, polyp removal, endoscopic dilation, and fecal microbiota transplant (FMT).
Dr. Donet received his medical degree from Universidad Nacional de Trujillo in Peru, followed by an internal medicine residency then a general Gastroenterology fellowship at the University of Miami - Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, FL. He then completed advanced fellowship training in inflammatory bowel diseases (Crohn’s disease and Ulcerative Colitis) at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore, MD.
Prior to joining Inova, Dr. Donet worked at the Veteran Affairs Central California Healthcare System and Community Regional Medical Center, in Fresno, CA, with an academic appointment as Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF).
Dr. Donet’s native language is Spanish, and he is an advanced English speaker.
