Dr. Greenberg graduated magna cum laude from Brown University in Providence, RI, where he was elected to the Phi Beta Kappa honor society. He went on to earn his medical degree with honors from Cornell University in New York, NY, and was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society.

After medical school, Dr. Greenberg completed a residency and fellowship in diagnostic radiology, neuroradiology and neurointerventional surgery at New York Presbyterian Hospital-Weill Cornell Medical Center in New York City. He is a diplomat of the American Board of Radiology and a senior member of the American Society of Neuroradiology and the Society of Neurointerventional Surgery.

Nilesh Vyas, MD

Cerebrovascular and Skull Base Neurosurgeon

Dr. Nilesh A. Vyas is board certified in neurosurgery and joined Inova Medical Group with four years of surgical and clinical experience. Although he treats all neurosurgical diseases, he has a special interest in management of cerebrovascular disorders such as brain aneurysms, AVMs, vascular malformations, carotid artery stenosis, brain tumors and complex skull base lesions.

Dr. Vyas also serves as director of cerebrovascular neurological surgery as well as director of Inova Medical Group - Neurosurgery. He chose to practice neurosurgery because of the complexity of the cases and his family's background in medicine. Dr. Vyas's commitment to his patients is that they improve and thrive so they can return as much as possible to their previous quality of life. His personalized approach to surgery and aftercare includes getting to know each patient as a person and providing the best surgical options that will fit their lifestyle.

Manuel C. Fortes, MD

Neurointerventional Surgeon

Dr. Fortes, a compassionate and dedicated medical professional from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, delivers exceptional care to patients at Inova Fairfax Hospital. With expertise in radiology, he swiftly and accurately analyzes critical medical imaging, enabling precise and effective endovascular surgical interventions. Specializing in brain aneurysms, flow diverter stents, and other areas, Dr. Fortes brings extensive experience as an interventional neuroradiologist.

Graduating from the Fundacao Tecnico Educational Souza Marques School of Medicine in Brazil in 2004, Dr. Fortes has been practicing neurointerventional surgery since 2010. He excels in treating spinal/vertebral diseases using advanced techniques like kyphoplasty and Osteo Cool RF ablation. Collaborating closely with esteemed professionals at Inova Fairfax Hospital, he fosters a multidisciplinary approach to patient care.

Dr. Fortes completed a diagnostic radiology residency at the Federal University of Sao Paulo and an interventional radiology fellowship at the Medical University of South Carolina. He further enhanced his expertise through a combined neuroradiology/endovascular surgical neuroradiology fellowship at the University of Maryland Medical Center. Dr. Fortes is board certified in radiology and holds certification in Focused Practice in Neurointerventional Surgery. He is a senior member of the Society of Neurointerventional Surgery and contributes to medical education as an Assistant Professor at the University of Virginia.

Sidhartha Chandela, MD

Cerebrovascular and Neurointerventional Surgeon

Dr. Sidhartha Chandela is a board certified and fellowship-trained minimally invasive neurosurgeon at Inova Health System. He has more than 20 years of clinical experience and specializes in both brain and spinal neurosurgery. His practice and interests involve using the latest spinal navigation technology to perform minimally-invasive and complex spine surgery to treat spinal stenosis, radiculopathy, myelopathy, and neck and back pain. He also performs general neurosurgery, utilizing the latest stereotactic imaging technology to treat brain tumors, trigeminal neuralgia, Chiari malformations, trauma and hydrocephalus.

Dr. Chandela is one of few unique dual-trained neurosurgeons nationwide who utilizes both endovascular and open neurosurgical techniques to treat cerebrovascular disorders such as brain aneurysms, AVM and brain bleeds. He was the first neurosurgeon in Northern Virginia to offer both microsurgical and endovascular treatment options for cerebrovascular disease. He has vast experience using emerging technology to treat stroke and remove blockages from brain arteries via thrombectomy and restoring blood flow through brain bypass surgery for Moyamoya disease.

Dr. Chandela was trained by world renowned thought leaders in neurosurgery in New York City, Philadelphia, and Utrect, Netherlands, giving him rare expertise in both brain and spine problems.

Dr. Chandela was a neurosurgeon for the Washington Commanders and served as an independent neurosurgical consultant for the NFL regarding concussion protocols since 2010. He also serves as the team neurosurgeon for D.C. United. He has won various research awards, given talks and authored numerous articles in peer reviewed journals.

Dr. Chandela believes having expertise and skill in performing brain surgery is an asset when providing neurosurgical spine care to achieve the best spine surgery outcomes. He focuses on providing his patients with balanced, conservative and compassionate care.

Ameet Chitale, MD

Cerebrovascular and Neurointerventional Surgeon

Dr. Ameet Chitale is a specialty care board-certified neurosurgeon at Inova Health System. Dr. Chitale joined Inova from Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, where he served as a neurosurgery instructor and completed a subspecialty fellowship in the minimally invasive/endovascular treatment of cerebrovascular disease. During the completion of his residency training at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, he learned the art of open neurosurgical management of vascular, spinal and brain tumor disorders.

Dr. Chitale’s experience as a dual-trained open and minimally invasive/endovascular neurosurgeon enables him to provide patients with comprehensive and tailored treatment options for all vascular diseases of the central nervous system, including intracranial aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations/fistulae, stroke, carotid artery stenosis, moyamoya disease and cavernous malformations.

Dr. Chitale treats the entire spectrum of neurosurgical conditions including neurovascular conflict conditions such as trigeminal neuralgia and hemifacial spasm, degenerative spine disease, and brain and spine tumors. He focuses on providing optimal treatment strategies that allow his patients to return to normal life as quickly and efficiently as possible. Dr. Chitale has a special interest in objective outcomes measurement in neurosurgical disease.
