This hospital, located in one of the fastest-growing counties in Northern Virginia, allows residents opportunities for scrubbing on both podiatric and orthopedic foot and ankle cases, with emphasis on reconstructive and trauma cases.
Inova Dorothea R. Fisher Wound Healing Center at Inova Mount Vernon Hospital
Second year residents rotate on a weekly basis through this busy wound care center for hands-on training in wound care.
Inova Surgery Center — Woodburn
This surgery center is located in close proximity to Inova Fairfax Hospital and offers ongoing surgical exposure to residents.
Georgetown University Medical Center, Washington, DC
Senior residents function as chief resident in the Limb Salvage Center under the auspices of Dr. Christopher Attinger, a world renowned expert in plastic reconstructive surgery of the diabetic and vascular compromised foot. This highly intense rotation affords the resident the opportunity to manage patients with end stage deformities, both surgically and nonsurgically.
Kaiser Permanente Clinics and Surgical Center
Senior residents rotate through the foot clinic where they are assigned patients for treatment and evaluation under the auspices of staff podiatrists. They are able to follow their patients perioperatively on cases performed at the Kaiser Surgical Center.
Office facilities
Residents are assigned to multiple offices for exposure and familiarity in office procedures, as well as an opportunity to see follow-up on surgical cases.
