National Capital Consortium-Inova Fairfax Hospital Fellowship

This three-year fellowship is fully accredited in urogynecology and reconstructive pelvic surgery by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) with a complement of two fellows each year. It is a combined military and civilian fellowship in the National Capital Consortium at Inova Fairfax Hospital (civilian) and Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (military). Upon completion of the fellowship, military fellows (from all services) will serve as teaching faculty at one of the armed forces OB-GYN or urology residencies, whereas civilian fellows will be encouraged to pursue academic positions.

LTC Katherine (Kati) Dengler, MD, FACOG, URPS, FACS

Fellowship Program Director

Dr. Katherine received her medical degree from the F. Edward Hebert School of Medicine at the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences (USUHS). She then completed her obstetrics and gynecology residency at the San Antonio Uniformed Services Health Education Consortium. After five years as a specialist in obstetrics and gynecology, she completed her urogynecology and reconstructive pelvic surgery fellowship at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.

She has been actively serving in the military since 2004 and holds the rank of lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army. She is the Program Director for the National Capital Consortium Urogynecology and Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and Inova Fairfax Hospital. She is an Associate Professor of Gynecologic Surgery and Obstetrics at USUHS and the former Chief of the Urogynecology Division at Walter Reed. She is heavily involved in research on women's health and has a significant interest in post-operative pain management.
