Raj Chand, MD, FAAEM, serves as Interim President of Inova Loudoun Hospital.
Dr. Chand is an experienced healthcare executive, having originally joined the organization in 2006 as an emergency physician at Inova Fairfax Hospital. Over the past 20 years he has advanced through a range of clinical and administrative leadership roles, including ED Medical Director at Inova Fair Oaks and President of Virginia Emergency Medicine Associates (VEMA), before joining Inova Fair Oaks' executive leadership as Chief Medical Officer in 2020 and being named President and COO in 2021. He served as President of Virginia Emergency Medicine Associates (VEMA) for six years.
As VEMA President, Raj oversaw clinical leadership teams, grew the practice to 60 physicians and 30 advanced practice providers, and led the transformation of VEMA's corporate infrastructure.
Through these experiences, Raj has developed significant expertise in operations, patient safety and patient flow. He is enthusiastic about the role of technology and clinical informatics in improving healthcare outcomes. He served in physician leadership roles during the Picis EMR and Epic implementations and during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Raj grew up in New Jersey and earned his BA in philosophy from Rutgers University. He graduated from the Boston University School of Medicine and completed his residency in emergency medicine at George Washington University.
