Background Information
The purpose of this research is to collect patient specimens. These experimental specimens will be used to develop a biomarker test determining the specific molecular profile of lung nodules under investigation for possible lung cancer. The molecular profile of a nodule that is found to be cancerous may enable earlier and more specific treatment for patients diagnosed with lung cancer. If you choose to participate in this study, additional small tissue specimens matching those already being taken during your routine diagnostic procedure will be collected. Blood samples will also be collected during a routine blood draw around the time of your procedure. The specimens will be compared to the final diagnosis of your lung nodule that was identified by your doctor. This research includes genome sequencing (determining the order of DNA building blocks (nucleotides) in your genetic code).
