Background Information

In this multi-site, observational prospective study of pregnant people and their infants, we will assess the timing of pregnancy diversification of the vaginal microbiome. We will also explore the driving hormonal and immunological influences on vaginal microbiome diversification as well as the mother to infant microbiome transfer based on the diversification of the vaginal microbiome.

Eligibility Information

  • Pregnant people, ≥ 12 weeks and <30 weeks gestation
  • Over 18 years of age
  • Able to give informed consent

Ineligibility Information

  • Contraindication to collect required samples
