Background Information

The purpose is to better understand how the heart functions before and after mitral valve repair with Abbott TEER Mitra clip procedure. This is accomplished through echocardiogram and cardiac MRI imaging before the procedure, and 6 months after.

Eligibility Information

  • ≥ 18 years old
  • Patients with heart failure and reduced ejection fraction (LVEF < 50% defined by echocardiography)
  • Patients with significant FMR undergoing TEER with FDA-approved MitraClip device (Abbott Structural, USA)

Ineligibility Information

  • Concomitant PCI and TEER
  • Congenital heart disease
  • Stage D heart failure
  • Uncontrolled atrial fibrillation
  • Pregnancy
  • Greater than moderate tricuspid regurgitation
  • Greater than moderate aortic regurgitation or stenosis
  • Contraindications or unable to undergo CMR
  • Prior mitral valve repair or replacement
