Dr. Amir Moazzez is a specialty care physician board certified in metabolic bariatric surgery at Inova. He has had extensive training and experience in the field of metabolic/bariatric/weight loss surgery and works exclusively with morbidly obese individuals. He has helped his patients resolve comorbid conditions and improve their quality of life.

Dr. Moazzez is one of the top bariatric surgeons in the Washington, DC, region, having performed over 5,000 weight loss surgeries. He previously served as Chief of Surgery at Inova Fair Oaks Hospital, Medical Director of Inova’s weight loss surgery program; and Director for the minimally invasive bariatric fellowship program.

Dr. Moazzez is a subspecialist and has performed multiple advanced bariatric procedures including laparoscopic and robotic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, laparoscopic and robotic sleeve gastrectomy, and gastric banding procedures. He also specializes in laparoscopic and robotic hernia and gallbladder surgeries. He became interested in the field of weight loss surgery during his training at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC. Since then, his focus has been on bettering the lives of those suffering from long-term obesity.

A native Washingtonian, Dr. Moazzez currently resides in McLean, VA, with his wife and two children. During his free time, he enjoys bicycling, exercising and spending time with family.
