About Christopher P. Silveri, MD

Christopher Silveri, MD, FAAOS, joined Inova Health System as an orthopedic spine surgeon with more than 25 years of experience and extensive fellowship training in orthopedic and neurosurgical aspects of spinal care. He treats complex reconstructive cervical and lumbar spine pathologies, as well as routine neck and back disc herniations, stenosis and radiculopathies.

Dr. Silveri leads the efforts at Inova Fair Oaks Hospital in minimally invasive techniques, navigation and the latest in robotic spine surgery. In addition, while maintaining his clinical practice, he has served as the Medical Director of the Inova Spine Program at Inova Fair Oaks Hospital for the last 15 years, during which he led the hospital to achieve national recognition in U.S. News & World Report rankings for spine excellence and earn the prestigious “high performing” designation in back and spinal fusion surgery. His leadership facilitated the hospital’s recognition as the only center of excellence in cervical and lumbar spine surgery in the region, with 12 consecutive years of accreditation and validation by The Joint Commission.

He completed undergraduate studies at Georgetown University in Washington, DC, where he received cum laude honors. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania Medical School in 1989, where he received the departmental award for excellence in orthopedic surgery. Dr. Silveri completed his formal orthopedic surgical residency training at Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New York. He accomplished his fellowship training in two areas – specializing in neurosurgical spinal surgery at Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia and reconstructive spine and scoliosis surgery at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia.

Dr. Silveri was an Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Georgetown University and a clinical instructor with George Washington University Medical Center’s Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. He is a past Chairman of the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Inova Fair Oaks Hospital. Dr. Silveri is a member of the North American Spine Society, the Medical Society of Virginia and Fairfax County Medical Society.

Dr. Silveri has been named in Washingtonian Magazine’s list of Top 100 spine surgeons and is consistently recognized by the community and his peers for his commitment to quality, passion for excellence and steadfast dedication to the critical diagnostic challenges of spine care.
