Dr. Amirahwaty Abdullah is a specialty care physician board certified in internal medicine, pulmonary medicine and critical care medicine. She joined Inova in 2025 and has been practicing since 2015.
Prior to joining Inova, Dr. Abdullah was a pulmonary and critical care physician at West Virginia University in Morgantown, WV.
Dr. Abdullah’s clinical areas of interest include caring for patients with advanced fibrotic lung disease and those with occupational lung disease, such as coal workers’ pneumoconiosis and hypersensitivity pneumonitis. She enjoys working with all patients, as everyone has a unique story to share, and she is thankful and humbled to share this journey with them. Her patient care philosophy is to “treat the patient, not the disease.” These were wise words imprinted in her early career by her medical school mentor, Dr. Kandasamy. Dr. Abdullah’s patient care goals are to be kind to her patients and their families, even in the most difficult moments, and to be available to listen and to acknowledge their concerns.
In her free time, Dr. Abdullah makes nutritious homemade food for her children.
