Dr. Amita Kumar is a specialty care physician board certified in obstetrics and gynecology at Inova Health System. She joined Inova in 2023 and has been practicing since 2010.

Prior to joining Inova, Dr. Kumar worked as an OB-GYN hospitalist at Envision Healthcare in Denver; a general OB-GYN at Centura Health Physicians’ Group in Littleton, CO, as well as Swedish Medical Center in Englewood, CO; and adjunct faculty and clinical instructor at Rocky Vista School of Osteopathic Medicine in Parker, CO.

Dr. Kumar values full-scope, comprehensive care for her patients and working with patients of all backgrounds. She would like to encourage a trusting atmosphere in the office and hospital, where she fully educates patients about their health and they make treatment decisions together. Her clinical areas of interest include obstetrics (especially high-risk obstetrics), contraceptive management, bleeding disorders and laparoscopic/hysteroscopic surgery. Dr. Kumar loves teaching and working with residents and medical students.

A native of Lexington, KY, Dr. Kumar is a huge Wildcat fan and now resides in Alexandria, VA. Outside the office, she enjoys kayaking, painting, cooking, exploring new restaurants and spending time with friends. Dr. Kumar is married and has three fur babies.
