About Angela Pennisi, MD
Dr. Angela Pennisi is a specialty care physician board certified in internal medicine, medical oncology and hematology. She has a special interest in the management of all types and stages of breast cancer.
Dr. Pennisi is passionate about connecting with her patients for personalized care and providing comprehensive oncology care from diagnosis to survivorship, while advancing breast cancer research.
She received her medical degree from the University of Catania School of Medicine and Surgery in Catania, Italy. She continued her fellowship training in hematology and received a PhD in experimental hematology from the same university. After completing her hematology/oncology fellowship at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, Dr. Pennisi served at the same institution as assistant professor of medicine with a clinical focus in breast cancer. She has been an investigator in several translational studies and clinical trials to improve therapeutic approaches in the treatment of patients with breast cancer. She joined Inova Medical Group with more than 10 years of clinical experience.
A native of Italy, Dr. Pennisi currently resides in Northern Virginia with her husband and two children. In her spare time she likes to spend time with her family, exercise and travel.
