About Barbara M. Nies, MD

Dr. Barbara Nies is a specialty care physician board certified in maternal-fetal medicine and obstetrics and gynecology. She joined Inova Health System in 2021 and has been practicing since 1984.

Dr. Nies completed her specialty training in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Connecticut in Farmington, CT. She moved to the Washington area in 1988 for subspecialty training in maternal-fetal medicine at the George Washington University Medical Center and Fairfax Hospital. After the completion of her training, she joined the faculty of George Washington University as a subspecialist in maternal-fetal Medicine. 

She joined Perinatal Associates of Northern Virginia in 1995. Dr. Nies is a diplomat of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the subspecialty board of maternal-fetal medicine and a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
