About Hamza Raja, MD

Dr. Hamza Raja is a specialty care physician board certified in sports medicine and emergency medicine with additional expertise in interventional pain management. He joined Inova in 2026 and has been practicing since 2024.

Prior to joining Inova, Dr. Raja was an interventional pain medicine fellow at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Dr. Raja completed his residency in emergency medicine before completing his primary care sports medicine fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, where he served as assistant team physician for the University of Pittsburgh football team. He also served as assistant team physician for all other University of Pittsburgh sports, Robert Morris University, and Fox Chapel High School.

Dr. Raja’s clinical areas of interest include nonoperative orthopedics and sports medicine, regenerative medicine and interventional pain management, with particular expertise in axial neck and back pain and neuromodulation techniques, including peripheral nerve stimulation and spinal cord stimulation.

Dr. Raja is a native of the DC, Maryland, Northern Virginia (DMV) area. In his free time, he enjoys watching professional and college football, playing recreational sports, reading, hiking and spending time with family.
