About Heather E. Kavanagh, FNP

Heather Kavanagh is a family nurse practitioner. She rejoined Inova Health System in 2022.

Heather started as a nurse practitioner at Inova Loudoun Hospital with the hospitalist group in 2012. She then worked for Berryville Medical Associates from 2017 to 2019 and with the Loudoun Free Clinic from 2019 to 2022.

Before becoming a nurse practitioner, Heather was an intensive care nurse with University of Virginia Health System from 2006 to 2007 and with Inova Loudoun Hospital from 2007 to 2012. She graduated from Shenandoah University with a bachelor's degree in nursing in 2005 and a master's degree in nursing with a family nurse practitioner concentration in 2010.

Heather's clinical areas of interest include family medicine, hospital medicine and community health. She treats her patients as if they were family members and provides care how she would prefer to be cared for as a patient. Her goal for patient care includes helping patients understand the importance of prevention, management of chronic health conditions and involvement in their own care.
