Katherine (Kate) Kandada, AGACNP, is a board-certified hospice and palliative care nurse practitioner at Inova Schar Cancer. She brings a wide range of clinical experience—including acute care, heart failure, and oncology—which helps her understand the challenges patients and families face when navigating serious illness.

Kate completed a hospice and palliative medicine fellowship at MedStar Washington Hospital Center, where she continued as faculty, caring for patients at all stages of disease and mentoring future clinicians.

She is committed to patient- and family-centered care, creating space for meaningful conversations and shared decision-making. Kate focuses on managing symptoms and supporting quality of life throughout treatment, always working to ensure that care reflects what matters most to each individual.

Outside of work, Kate enjoys baking, watching reality TV, and chasing after her toddler—while her dog provides running commentary.
