About Kathleen A. Tyson, CNM

Kathleen (Katie) Tyson is a certified nurse midwife. She joined Inova in 2013 as a staff nurse at Inova Alexandria Hospital, where she worked on the labor and delivery, high-risk antepartum and women’s specialty units. She transitioned to Inova Fair Oaks Hospital as a certified nurse midwife in 2018 andhas been practicing as a certified nurse midwife since 2018.

Prior to her current role, Katie was a certified nurse midwife at Centreville OB/GYN, Reston Women’s Center and Inova Fair Oaks Hospital.

Katie’s care philosophy includes meeting women and families where they are and providing tailored recommendations based on their individual concerns and needs. She enjoys working with all individuals seeking midwifery care and strives to be a safe provider for the LGBTQ+ community. She enjoys providing education and care for those seeking contraception, experiencing gynecologic concerns, and experiencing pregnancy and birth.

In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter, son and their three cats. She enjoys reading, weightlifting, running and swimming.
