About Kush S. Patel, MD

Dr. Kush Patel is a specialty care physician board certified in internal medicine and sports medicine at Inova Health System. He joined Inova in 2023 and has been practicing since 2013.

Prior to joining Inova, Dr. Patel worked as a sports medicine physician and Assistant Program Director of the Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship at Sports Medicine of Central PA. He has served as a team physician for all levels of athletes including high school, collegiate and professional athletes. Dr. Patel completed his internal medicine residency at Saint Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury, CT where he subsequently served as chief resident. He then went on to complete his fellowship in primary care sports medicine at the University of Buffalo.

Dr. Patel’s clinical areas of interest include specialization in the use of musculoskeletal ultrasound to aid injury diagnosis and injection treatments including corticosteroid, viscosupplementation and platelet-rich plasma. He performs percutaneous ultrasonic tenotomy using Tenex. He enjoys working with athletes of all skill levels from adolescent and high school, to collegiate and professional, to active adults.

Outside the office, Dr. Patel enjoys spending time with his wife and daughters. He and his wife enjoy traveling (such as hiking trips to Banff, western Ireland and Iceland) and pursuing an active lifestyle.
