Dr. Michelle Tang is a specialty care physician board certified in obstetrics and gynecology. She joined Inova in 2024 and has been practicing since 2018.
Prior to joining Inova, Dr. Tang was an obstetrician and gynecologist who also served as a clinical professor in the department of obstetrics, gynecology and reproductive sciences at the University of California – San Diego.
Dr. Tang provides preconception, prenatal and postpartum care, as well as labor and delivery management. She also provides comprehensive gynecologic care including family planning and contraception, abnormal pap smears, sexual health and dysfunction, abnormal bleeding, fibroids, endometriosis, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), ovarian cysts, pelvic pain, menopause, and vulvar conditions. Dr. Tang offers medical and surgical treatment options and always strives for minimally invasive surgical methods when appropriate.
Dr. Tang believes in maintaining an open dialogue with patients, valuing shared decision making and patient-centered care. While her recommendations are always rooted in evidence-based guidelines, she works with patients to ensure that recommendations are personalized with consideration of their medical history, prior treatment plans and current needs. Dr. Tang finds it particularly rewarding to provide care to women during some of their most vulnerable moments in life.
Dr. Tang completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at UC San Diego Health and earned her medical degree from Duke University School of Medicine in Raleigh, NC. She is a member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, their mischievous dog, and family and friends near and far. She is a big foodie and also enjoys exploring farmers' markets, traveling, reading and exercise, particularly yoga sculpt, indoor cycling and tennis. Dr. Tang speaks conversational Mandarin.
