Dr. Rebecca Hill Charneco is a licensed clinical psychologist at Inova, where she serves as senior manager of the psychological services department and is a member of the Inova Kellar Center leadership team. She has worked in the mental health field for over twenty-five years and joined the Kellar team in 2012 as a staff psychologist. Dr. Charneco earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from the College of William and Mary and her doctorate in clinical psychology from the University of Virginia. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at the Virginia Treatment Center for Children at the Medical College of Virginia.

At the Kellar Center, Dr. Charneco conducts comprehensive psychological and educational evaluations of children and adolescents and provides parental guidance along with individual and family therapy. She also facilitates a weekly process group for high school boys. Her therapeutic approach integrates cognitive behavioral therapy, family systems work, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) and interpersonal therapies, allowing her to adapt treatment to the unique needs of each individual and family. Her clinical expertise includes the evaluation and treatment of ADHD, learning disabilities, anxiety, depression, autism spectrum disorder, family conflict and mood/behavior dysregulation. In addition, she is certified as a Mental Game Coaching Professional and works with middle and high school athletes seeking to enhance their performance in sports. She also serves as the training director for the Kellar Center’s externship program for doctoral candidates in clinical psychology, providing clinical supervision and mentorship.

Before joining Inova, Dr. Charneco practiced in private settings, where she conducted evaluations and provided therapy for children, teens and adults. She also worked as a school psychologist with Fairfax County Public Schools, primarily supporting middle school students with emotional and behavioral challenges, and performed evaluations for Disability Determination Services with the Virginia Department of Rehabilitative Services for individuals applying for Social Security and SSI disability benefits.

Outside of her professional work, Dr. Charneco enjoys spending time with her husband and their three young adult children. She loves reading, traveling, watching sports and being outdoors.
