About Saima Rafique, MD

Dr. Saima Rafique is a specialty care physician board certified in obstetrics and gynecology at Inova Health System. She joined Inova in 2020 with several years of clinical experience.

Dr. Rafique strives to provide compassionate, patient centered and evidence-based care to women through all phases of their lives. Having worked in national and international settings, she enjoys caring for women across diverse cultural backgrounds and values the ability to develop strong and everlasting relationships with her patients. She has also worked at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, MD, on several research projects on conditions affecting women's reproductive health. She has co-authored several articles and presented in national meetings.

Dr. Rafique's interest in obstetrics and gynecology began while growing up in India. Born to physician parents, she was inspired by their dedication to provide compassionate and exceptional care to the community and the ability to make long lasting relationships with their patients. As far as she can remember she always aspired to pursue medicine and found her true calling in obstetrics and gynecology.

Outside of work, she enjoys traveling, cooking, reading and spending time with family and friends.
