About Sarah H. Smith, MD

Dr. Smith is a board-certified internist specializing in obesity medicine within the Inova VIP 360° team. She has special interests in obesity medicine, preventative medicine and treating chronic medical conditions. Dr. Smith’s comprehensive medical weight management program is available for VIP 360° patients on a referral basis.

After many years of practicing primary care, Dr. Smith has treated a great number of patients with weight-related chronic medical conditions. Striving for the best outcomes for her patients, she began researching ways to treat chronic conditions and obesity.

Dr. Smith enjoys working with patients to create a comprehensive and individualized weight management program including nutrition, physical activity, behavioral changes and medications if necessary. She believes an individual’s weight is multifactorial and losing weight is not as simple as "calories in – calories out." In order to achieve desired outcomes, Dr. Smith works with each patient to meet their unique needs. She truly loves the privilege of practicing medicine and getting to know each and every patient and is dedicated to providing compassionate and collaborative medical care.

Dr. Smith lives in Northern Virginia with her husband and three children. In her free time, she loves spending time with her family, running, traveling and exploring DC.
