Dr. Saveri Bhattacharya is a board-certified medical oncologist specializing in women’s cancers. She serves as Co-Director of Gynecologic Oncology Clinical Research at Inova Schar Cancer and as an assistant professor of medical education at the University of Virginia School of Medicine.
At Inova, Dr. Bhattacharya leads an active clinical trials program focused on endometrial and ovarian cancers and serves as principal investigator on multiple national and international Phase III studies through the GOG Foundation and NRG Oncology. Her work centers on advancing innovative therapies – including targeted treatments, antibody-drug conjugates, and immunotherapy combinations – to expand options for women facing gynecologic malignancies. She is also a member of the NRG Uterine Corpus Committee.
Dr. Bhattacharya previously held faculty appointments at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania and Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University, where she chaired the Breast Steering Committee at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and led several investigator-initiated clinical trials. She has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications, delivered invited lectures nationally and internationally and remains an active member of NRG Oncology, GOG Oncology and the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO). She has been recognized as a Castle Connolly “Top Doctor,” a Philadelphia Magazine “Top Doctor” and was named “Teacher of the Year” by the Jefferson Hematology/Oncology Fellowship Program.
Dr. Bhattacharya earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Touro University California and completed her internal medicine residency and hematology/oncology fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Cornell University.
Above all, Dr. Bhattacharya believes that cancer care is about partnership. She takes time to listen, ensuring that each patient’s treatment plan reflects not only the best medical evidence, but also their personal goals and values. She is deeply committed to compassionate, patient-centered care and to expanding access to cutting-edge clinical trials for women with gynecologic cancers.
