About Shannon N. Hewitt, FNP

Shannon Hewitt is a board-certified family nurse practitioner. She first joined Inova in 2002 as a labor and delivery nurse and rejoined in 2025 as a stroke clinic nurse practitioner. She has been practicing as a nurse since 1999.

Prior to rejoining Inova, Shannon was a primary care nurse practitioner float provider for the VA Pacific Islands Healthcare System. Her nurse practitioner experience also includes two years in the stroke clinic at The Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu and seven years in primary care during her Air Force service.

Her clinical areas of interest include toxic exposure and autonomic dysfunction. She loves working with the stroke team and with all patients, but veterans hold a special place in her heart. She is interested in connecting the dots between their military exposures and chronic medical conditions. Shannon believes prevention is the best medicine. She enjoys meeting patients where they are, learning their priorities and then working together to develop a shared plan.

In her free time, Shannon enjoys gardening and playing with her three bunnies.
