About Sharon L. Bachman, MD

Dr. Sharon Bachman is a specialty care physician board certified in general surgery. She joins Inova Medical Group with over 15 years of clinical experience. She has a special interest in management of complex abdominal wall and inguinal hernias, surgical education, and the techniques of minimally invasive surgery. She has an active research interest in prosthetic materials used in hernia repair.

Most recently Dr. Bachman served as an assistant professor of clinical surgery at the University of Missouri Hospitals and a staff surgeon at the Harry S. Truman Veterans Hospital, both in Columbia, MO.

Dr. Bachman became interested in surgical services because of the opportunities to problem-solve utilizing a skill set that is both intellectual and manual. Her goal is to help patients regain their functional lifestyle.

A native of the Boston area, Dr. Bachman currently resides in Falls Church. In her spare time she likes to exercise, enjoys art and cooking, especially with locally grown products obtained from regional farmers' markets.
