About Valerie T. Tran, MD

Dr. Valerie Tran is a specialty care physician board certified in internal medicine. She joined Inova in 2026 and has been practicing since 2020.

Prior to joining Inova, Dr. Tran was a hematology and oncology fellow at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA. She specializes in the care of adults with cancers of the blood.

Dr. Tran earned her medical degree from the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine, where she also completed her internal medicine residency. She went on to complete her fellowship in hematology and oncology at the University of Virginia Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Her research focuses on improving outcomes for patients with acute leukemia and examining the effects of social determinants of health on cancer treatment and outcomes. She participated in the ASH Advocacy Leadership Institute in 2025, has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications and presented her work at national meetings.

Dr. Tran is committed to providing compassionate, individualized and evidence-based care. She works closely with patients and their families to help them understand complex diagnoses, navigate treatment decisions and develop care plans that reflect each patient’s unique needs and goals.

In her free time, she enjoys cooking, traveling and taking nature walks with her husband, daughter and two German shepherds.
