1 Current: Applicant Information 2 Education 3 References 4 Previous Employment 5 Histotechnology Information 6 Complete Inova Histology Program curriculum objectives will meet the standards set by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Science which includes the qualifications and responsibilities of the HT Program Administration, and HT curriculum requirements in the area of instruction, learning experiences, and evaluations. The program’s course work and clinical practicums are done simultaneously over 10 months and taught by Inova Health System Pathologists, Safety officers, Certified HTs, and Certified Cytologist. Course Schedule The program’s schedule is 12:30 – 2:30 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday, two weekends a month from 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. and starts in August of every year. Students receive days off for holidays and breaks. Inova Histology Program is in the process of being accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS), and will be the first in the state of Virginia. The program is certified to operate by the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia. Inova's Commitment The Inova Central Labs Histology Program will provide an educational program that teaches the art and science of Histopathology via lecture and lab. A certified Histotechnician plays a vital role in the preparation of microscopic routine and special stain slides for tissue abnormalities diagnosed by a Pathologist. This program’s focus will be on technical abilities, troubleshooting, confidence to pass the American Society of Clinical Pathology Board of Certification Examination and versatility to work as a Histotechnician in a hospital setting, reference lab, or research facility.
