Inova Breastfeeding and Lactation Medicine
Breastfeeding and lactation medicine can assist with many breastfeeding-related issues that parents may face. Complex or long-lasting lactation challenges require evaluation of both the parent and the baby.
In our practice, both the lactating parent and the baby are evaluated at the same visit if the baby has already been born. As both parent and baby are patients, each of their visits are submitted to each patient’s insurance company. We also offer video visits with the lactating parent when appropriate for care, and these visits are billed to insurance.
Out-of-pocket costs, in the form of copays and deductibles, are unique to each patient based on their individual insurance plans. Any questions you have regarding coverage of our services should be directed to your insurance company.
Please note: We request 24 hours’ notice for any appointment cancellations. Cancellations received less than 24 hours before an appointment may result in a charge.
Please allow 15 minutes to park and enter building. If you have not already completed your intake forms on MyChart, please allow another 15 minutes before the start of your appointment to complete these forms.

MyChart
All communication with our patients outside of phone calls is done via MyChart for security purposes and to optimize our team's coordination of your care. Your timely response to our inquiries helps us connect you with our providers for care as quickly as possible.
If you do not yet have MyChart access, you will need to set up your account, as this is the primary method of communication our team uses to maintain confidentiality once you have requested an appointment through the online form.
To set up MyChart, visit www.inova.org/mychart. You will receive questionnaires through MyChart before your visit. Please note, these questionnaires must be completed prior to your visit.
