Changes to telemedicine coverage for Medicare patients

Effective October 1, 2025, several telemedicine flexibilities for patients have expired. For patients insured by a government program, this impacts any upcoming virtual visits with your healthcare provider.

Preparation and Instructions for Nursing Staff Caring For Apheresis Patients

Call 703-776-2610 to inform apheresis nurse about patient’s medications (e.g. ACE inhibitors or anti-rejection medication).

Allow patient to eat and drink before scheduled procedure*.
* Exception: patients scheduled for central line placement

Please draw a CBC, BMP, Ionized Calcium (gold top tube), Fibrinogen and type and screen (for new patients) with morning labs on the day of scheduled apheresis procedure.

The apheresis team highly recommends scheduling apheresis treatment first prior to same-day dialysis treatments (if applicable).
