Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

All existing Inova Neurology patients are eligible for virtual visits. Patients must be age 18 or over and if not have a parent or guardian with them. Please refer to the FAQs for the types of medical needs where it is advised to make an in-person neurological care appointment.

During this time, we can also schedule new patients for virtual visits.

To schedule your appointment, please contact us Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 571-472-4200 and request your particular provider and/or neurological specialist.

We will provide the same level of attention and detail during virtual visits as any other visit for your individual care.

To participate in virtual visits, you will need a smartphone, tablet or a computer with a reliable internet connection and a quiet location to speak.

Specific instructions are available

Most of our virtual visits are on the Zoom platform. Our practice may use MyChart where feasible and is looking for a conversion to Epic telehealth. Once the appointment is made, the patient scheduler will provide you with instructions on how to access your virtual visit. No one is present in the room with the provider or listening on the line; you can confidentially discuss your health in an environment of secure privacy.

If at any time you have a question for your physician between visits, please contact us at 571-472-4200 to leave a message. Be sure to state and spell your name, phone number and best hours for call back time clearly.

We suggest in-person visits for the following:

  • Inova Parkinson’s and Movement Disorders Center – Patients needing a DBS adjustment should schedule an in-person visit. Likewise, those patients in need of injections should schedule an in-person visit.
  • Neurological Testing Services – We are currently offering limited testing in our offices. Your provider will help determine if your testing can wait until COVID-19 restrictions are lifted.
  • Inova Epilepsy Center/Epilepsy Monitoring Unit – Patients needing a VNS or Neuropace adjustment should schedule an in-person visit. Your physician will determine if you can be scheduled for Epilepsy Monitoring or EEG.
  • Inova Rehabilitative Services – We will continue to make referrals for rehabilitation services, as needed.
