When Is It an Emergency?
Life-threatening conditions that cause severe symptoms or put your health at serious risk require a visit to an emergency room or emergency care center. Learn More About Types of Medical Emergencies
Inova offers emergency care at each of its five hospital emergency rooms and at six outpatient emergency care centers (Inova ECCs) at any hour of the day or night. All our physicians, nurses and laboratory and X-ray technicians are emergency room trained and board certified or board eligible. Inova emergency facilities are Joint Commission accredited and CAP certified.
Inova's stand-alone Emergency Care Centers handle any emergency for which you might otherwise go to a hospital emergency room. Inova ECCs provide state-of-the-art diagnostic testing, treatment facilities and laboratory services, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. No appointment is necessary.
