Lung Cancer Screening – Now Available
If you are high-risk for developing lung cancer, our screening program is designed to catch cancer in its early, most treatable stage.
Lung cancer screenings are done with a low-dose CT scan, which can identify small nodules or other abnormalities before symptoms arise.
Screenings can help find lung cancer early when it is easier to treat and more likely to be cured. CT scans might also show if you have other conditions or diseases that need to be treated.
Some cancers can be missed (false negative) and some may look like a cancer when they are not (false positive), however CT scans provide better results than chest x-rays.
Screening results will determine how often you should be screened – for most people, a yearly scan is recommended.
If you meet the high-risk criteria for lung cancer screening, you will be personally guided through the process by Carrie Friedman, our dedicated Thoracic Oncology Nurse Navigator.
Our Lung Cancer Screening program includes education, ordering, review of results and a comprehensive smoking cessation program.
