Cardiac PET CT is a highly accurate nuclear imaging study used to evaluate coronary artery disease, measure blood flow to the heart muscle and to assess heart muscle damage, such as following a heart attack.

It is valuable in determining the need for therapeutic interventions, such as stents or coronary artery bypass surgery and is used to diagnose conditions such as cardiomyopathy, or in identifying inflammation and to diagnosis underlying causes of heart failure such as cardiac sarcoidosis.

Cardiac PET scans provide clearer, more precise images compared to traditional nuclear stress tests (SPECT) and are useful in treatment planning as well as assessing effectiveness of therapies.

Benefits:

  • High-resolution imaging for enhanced image quality
  • Lower radiation exposure - offering significantly reduced radiation compared with traditional SPECT scans
  • Typical patient visits last 45–60 minutes
