To enhance your care experience, Inova is participating in Medicare's Transforming Episode Accountability Model (TEAM). This program promotes coordinated care – from surgery through 30 days post-hospitalization – for people with Original Medicare undergoing one of these five surgeries:
- Lower extremity joint replacement
- Surgical hip femur fracture treatment
- Spinal fusion
- Coronary artery bypass graft
- Major bowel procedures
The goal of TEAM is to improve health outcomes for patients like you by:
- Improving care transitions
- Encouraging healthcare providers to invest in better care processes and infrastructure
- Promoting high-quality care from your hospital stay to your recovery setting
What this means for you as a patient:
- You keep all your Medicare benefits and protections. Your coverage does not change, and Medicare will continue to pay for all medically necessary services you’re eligible to receive.
- You cannot opt out if you receive care at a TEAM hospital. TEAM is a mandatory initiative running from January 1, 2026, through December 31, 2030, in select areas nationwide. If you receive care at one of Inova’s hospitals, you’ll be automatically included. You may choose to receive care at a non TEAM hospital if you prefer.
- Your costs remain the same. Your claims will continue to be processed exactly as they are today.
