National Expertise in the Management of Sarcoidosis

For more than 20 years, pulmonary sarcoidosis has been part of Inova's advanced lung disease services. Our experts are nationally recognized for their expertise in diagnosing, treating and managing sarcoidosis utilizing the most effective treatments available.

Sarcoidosis is a complex condition that often affects multiple systems and organs. A serious and often underdiagnosed consequence is how it impacts the heart. We partner with our advanced heart failure team for their expertise and access to advanced diagnostic capabilities, such as cardiac PET CT to assure a comprehensive approach to care.

When indicated, we also partner with dermatology, neurology and ophthalmology to ensure comprehensive care for coexisting or isolated non-pulmonary manifestations of sarcoidosis.

Inova offers the region's only accredited pulmonary hypertension program and lung transplant center, both of which are crucial to a successful approach in managing pulmonary sarcoidosis. Meet Inova's sarcoidosis team

WASOG Designation

In June 2023, The Inova Sarcoidosis Center was designated as a World Association of Sarcoidosis and other Granulomatous Disorders (WASOG), Center of Excellence. This national designation identifies Inova Fairfax Hospital as one of the nation's premier providers of care for sarcoidosis patients.

The Inova Sarcoidosis Center joins an elite group of 22 other centers in the US and a total of 40 centers worldwide. The Inova Sarcoid Center is a multidisciplinary team of specialized medical and paramedical professionals that have proven sustainability over years, and provides leadership, best practices, research, support and/or training for sarcoidosis patients and professionals.
