Education at Inova

A long history and deep commitment to graduate medical education

Inova Fairfax Hospital is an independent academic medical center and serves as a regional medical school campus for The University of Virginia (UVA).

Our campus is host to a range of graduate medical education programs including both residency programs and fellowships. In addition to the independent Inova training programs, we also partner with Georgetown, GWU, The National Capital Consortium (military program), Howard, NIH and other regional programs to provide training in a wide variety of medical specialties.

New fellowships for 2026:

Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology Fellowship

Inova is pleased to announce its Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology Fellowship, led by Program Director Iyad Isseh, MD. This ACGME-accredited program will welcome its first fellow on July 1, 2026, offering advanced, specialized training in heart failure and transplant cardiology. Hypertension Fellowship Program

Inova is excited to announce the launch of its Hypertension Fellowship Program, led by Program Director Behnam Tehrani, MD, with coordination by Program Coordinator Kirsten Crump. This non-ACGME program aims to provide advanced training in managing complex hypertension and will welcome its first fellow on July 1, 2026.
