This program will offer a broad range of clinical, surgical and research opportunities, including:

  • Non-operative and surgical management of sports related injuries of the foot, ankle, knee, hip, shoulder and elbow
  • Extensive ultrasound training
  • Five (5) rotations with principal orthopedic sports fellowship trained physicians during the course of the year in a collegial block format
  • Experience in managing athletes in-and-out of season, focusing on injury prevention, treatment, recovery and performance
  • Collaboration with the Inova Sports Medicine team of orthopedic surgeons, primary care physicians, neuropsychologists, physical therapists, and strength and conditioning coaches
  • Provide care to the Washington Nationals and Washington Spirit teams
  • Collaborative research in clinical and biomechanical studies

The goal of the Inova Orthopedic Sports Medicine Fellowship is to teach our fellow to work collectively with the entire medical team to provide comprehensive care to the athletes, become an exceptional clinician and a top leader in the field of sports medicine.
