The PGY2 Critical Care Pharmacy Residency Program enrolled its first resident in August of 2019 and received ASHP accreditation after graduating our first resident.

Our residents have gone on to pursue careers as critical care clinical pharmacists and clinical pharmacy specialists at large medical centers.

We have one residency position available.

The PGY2 resident rotates as the clinical pharmacist-on-call (COC) with members of their residency class (including PGY1s) approximately every 6 weeks.

Responsibilities of the COC may include responding to drug information questions, assisting with management of medication problems and other issues not resolvable by the pharmacist on duty.

Additional responsibilities the resident will hold while on-call include implementation of any ongoing clinical initiatives that are being conducted by the Department of Pharmacy and serving as a clinical pharmacotherapy resource to members of the pharmacy and medical staff.

Inova Fairfax Medical Campus is located in Falls Church, VA within the Washington, DC metropolitan area, near a major freeway (the capital beltway). The hospital is fairly accessible from all directions, including a nearby Metro station with shuttle service to the hospital campus.

Yes, we conduct and highly encourage interviews at PPS. For the 2022 ASHP Midyear Meeting we will not be participating in the showcase. Our Instagram page @ifmc_rxresidency will provide information on virtual open houses.

The application process will continue via PhORCAS and qualified applicants selected for an interview will be invited to complete an on-site interview in early to mid-February.
